As a Psychologist Dr. Charles Pierce’s areas of competence are clinical psychology, counselling psychology,
health psychology and rehabilitation psychology. He is authorized to work with children, adolescents,
adults and families. His approach is problem focused with development of treatment approaches that
lead to behaviour change. This is a collaborative approach with the client.

Dr. Pierce is a registered Psychologist who was an Assistant Professor of Health Studies at
the University of Waterloo from 1971 to 1978. He taught, researched, and developed programs to assist children,
developmentally delayed children and adults and seniors to increase their participation in community
activities. He also implemented the first Canadian application of a treatment family model for
adolescent boys who were young offenders. He then became the first Executive Director of the
Waterloo Region District Health Council which worked with the province and local health bodies to
address local needs and health planning.
